For more than 90 years, Kärntnermilch, based in Spittal an der Drau, Carinthia, Austria, has been a pioneer in quality and innovation. Whether as a trailblazer in the organic sector or in introducing the world’s strictest criteria for unpasteurized milk, Kärntnermilch has always been one step ahead. Back in 1994, it was the first dairy in Austria to switch to processing organic milk into organic products. As a regional, farmer-owned cooperative, the idea of sustainability is always at the forefront at Kärntnermilch, with particular focus being placed on the ecological approach. The aim of its 1,100 milk suppliers and 200 employees is to preserve the local, rural smallholdings, culture and Alpine farming practices. The sustainable management of the farms and responsibility towards people, animals, the environment, nature and the cultivated landscape are the company’s central guiding principles.
