Dr. Loew Soziale Dienstleistungen GmbH & Co KG
For the past 40 years, the Dr. Loew Group has dedicated itself to providing good prospects for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs throughout Bavaria. Its services range from supported living and domiciliary care to comprehensive care for small groups.Over 1,700 staff in total look after more than 1,500 people on a residential or semi-residential basis. Over 400 people use services to assist them with their daily routine, such as placements at sheltered workshops. Helping to shape the future social environment is one of the major goals of Dr. Loew Soziale Dienstleistungen GmbH & Co. KG. To achieve this goal, the homes need to be managed from a commercial as well as a social point of view. Sandra Loew, as Managing Director, and Bernd Neuffer, Head of Corporate Performance Management, ensure that the necessary KPIs are on hand. With the help of Corporate Planner, internal benchmarks are created to compare the profitability of individual homes. Structured in this way, the figures provide essential information for negotiating nursing home daily rates or planning investments, as well as for the associated discussions with banks.
The company first came across Corporate Planning some years ago, when increasing demands from external parties had prompted a search for suitable software. A solution was called for which would get all the planned projects under one roof. And there were certainly plenty of these: integrated corporate performance management, risk management, a balanced scorecard. Another isolated solution was out of the question.
It was also particularly important that information would be locally accessible and data could easily be imported from back-office systems. What impressed the managers about Corporate Planner right from the start was the way in which individual facts and corporate structures could be modelled in the form of easily understandable tree structures.
These days, as well as an income statement and the balance sheet, KPIs for internal benchmarking are produced in Corporate Planner. The planning software is also used in HR management for displaying and analysing the personnel data and the staffing structure. Three financial controllers make sure the data are imported from various back-office systems (a data warehouse, DATEV, Senso and Excel), edit the structures and draw up the plan. In this process they use the top-down and bottom-up planning functions and create forecasts.
Seventy people in total, from the executive management, administration, divisional and line management through to the home managers, access the data in the Web Client. They retrieve the figures relevant to their work, run 80/20 analyses and variance analyses, and draw conclusions for their departments based on the findings. They display balanced scorecards in Corporate Planner BSC. The staff of the individual divisions and homes use these balanced scorecards for their quality assurance. Business risks are identified, analysed and assessed, and catalogues of measures are defined. This is where the Corporate Planner Risk solution comes in.
It’s not only the people looked after by the staff at Dr. Loew Soziale Dienstleistungen GmbH & Co. KG who have good prospects. Thanks to the commercially orientated executive management, and not least to the integrated corporate performance management system by Corporate Planning, the prospects for Dr. Loew Group continuing to offer its services successfully for another forty years and more are just as good. Forty years of Dr. Loew – congratulations!
